Bundoran Fire Brigade

    Our Scania Fire Appliance

Our current Appliance, the Scania 220 , was delivered to us in September 2001. It replaced a Mercedes Appliance which we had for 1 year and previously a Bedford Angus which we had for 20 years.

The new appliance is a "Class B" water tender with a Crew Cab, which can hold 8 of a crew, and is powered by a 220hp 94d 9 litre Diesel engine, with an automatic Allison gearbox.

Inside the appliance

Our 8 man version CP31 Crew-Cab is based on Scania's modular system incorporates the front of a P-Cab while the rear is taken from the T-cab. Renowned for safety, the Crew-Cab also boasts a safety cage which protects the Occupants in a collision and incorporates A.B.S.(Anti-Lock Braking System) as standard. It has a Retarder, Traction Control and Air Suspension.  ( See Details on your right -------------->> )

The appliance itself is very well designed with adequate room for the ever increasing modern equipment each appliance is now kitted out with. It holds 400 gallons of water and the main pump which is made by Godiva can pump 500 gallons of water per minute.

The portable pump is also made by Godiva with a Honda engine and can pump 250 gallons of water per minute.

Portable Pump can pump 1000 litres (250 gallon) of water per minute

It has the new standard in ladder removal, with 3 gantries which allow the crew access to all 4 ladders (13.5 metre, 10 metre, Roof Ladder & Short extension) without the need to get onto the roof.

The coachworks are brilliantly assembled by Browns Coachworks in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, and because it is a Scania, what else need we say about the chassis itself!  Brilliant!
